The Jones & Roth Construction team made a huge splash at the Associated General Contractors (AGC) Conference in Sunriver September 9th & 10th. The conference brings general contractors and subcontractors from over the state to network, attend educational sessions, and do a little partying.
Carrie Fortier was a featured speaker. Carrie co-presented with an attorney from Miller Nash. The dynamic duo filled the room with over 40 attendees.
Session: Find Out What’s Relevant to You in the New Tax Act
Ryan Nisle, Tax Attorney, Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP; Carrie Fortier, CPA, Jones & Roth CPAs
On December 22, President Trump signed into law H.R. 1, formerly known as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (the “Tax Act”). This session will engage both legal and accounting perspectives on the most relevant aspects of the Tax Act to the construction industry and business operators in general. The session will be helpful to business leaders looking to adjust their business practices to minimize potential negative impacts and take advantage of new opportunities. Specific areas to be covered include:
How the bill will affect your employees
Implications for equipment purchases and new accelerated depreciation rules
What the bill means for the domestic production activities deduction (DPAD)
International Sales (import/export)
The new pass‐through 20% qualified business income deduction
Entertainment expenses and other fringe benefit changes
The Friday reception included a Jetsons theme, so The JR construction team sponsored the Astro Ball event. (ok, it looks a lot like hoops!) Astro Ball was a hit with contractors and their families.
A huge “well done” to the Construction niche team for executing a terrific AGC Conference
